Dave Clancy - Academy Director

Dave Clancy is an experienced professional rugby coach with more than a decade in high-performance environments, spanning Major League Rugby, USA Rugby, and international programs. He currently serves as the California Legion’s Backs Coach, leading the day-to-day management of the team’s attack, and brings extensive pathway experience from roles including San Diego Legion’s Attack and Backs Coach, Academy Head Coach and Attack/Backs Coach with the Chicago Hounds, and Academy Head Coach and senior team assistant coach with the LA Giltinis (2021 MLR Champions). Dave has also coached at UCLA, consulted across multiple USA Rugby national team programs (including the USA Women’s 7s), and worked internationally with Munster Rugby, Samoa Rugby Union, and Cayman Islands Rugby. As a Legion Community Foundation Academy Coach, he is focused on developing young athletes through clear game understanding, skill acquisition, and values-driven high-performance habits.
